Project Validus development begins

Early engine design and game planning has begun! Project Validus is a zombie survival game in which you control a team of survivors and must escape the zombie horror by any means possible.

There will be multiple game endings achievable by escaping the city by various means, as well as many optional side quests and main storyline quests.

There is no Main Character, as long as at least one of your survivors remains alive, your quest continues and you may search for more party members on the way.

All survivors gain XP from zombie battles or via map events and using their non-combat skills. All skills will be important if you want to maintain a large, mobile party. You’ll need good a good driver, leader, looter, medic, mechanic, diplomat etc., and there will be many tag traits innate to certain characters, such as pilot or redneck.

In battle, you can either take control of the survivors with your mouse and keyboard, or switch to strategy mode and move them around with the mouse Real Time Strategy style.

If your party is separated, your car lost or disabled, or lack enough skills, there’s the danger of being forced to travel on foot and scavenge for whatever food you can carry, until you find another car. You’ll have to plan carefully and be cautious to survive the zombpocalypse!

At the moment I’m still doing lots of design and redesign, but the engine is starting to take shape. Emir “sh4d” Cerimovic will be joining the project as Art Director later in development, for added awesomeness. I’ll probably also be looking for someone to help handle the audio.

Beta testing will not be for several months at least, but you can sign up in the forums anytime.
